Music

Since I was a child, the great music of the all and sundry bands such as The Doors, ABBA, Boney M and the "lesser" popular Pink Something was played at home on our gramaphone (which ran through a Technics that I still have). Growing up, I had a insane bunch for friends. We were always looking for the next "not cool" tape in town. And then there was my dear brother and his set of freaky friends (SU, DK, RV, KM, PK … you guys are responsible for this!) who were involved in actually playing music :) That's when I knew Id keep trying till the end of time to play an instrument. So I got together with some of my best friends and put together "Antibiotic". The first band that I enjoyed playing with. God, I still love that band!!
Thus, I have been lucky to not just listen to and support music, but also to play it. I have been playing guitar for quite some time and lately started recording and attempting to mix stuff I play using some hardware and software tools.

I listen to and am enthralled by:

  • Classic Rock (Floyd, Purple, Zeppelin, Rainbow and too many other bands that become a staple if you grow up in this fine country I was born in!)
  • Prog/Progressive Rock/Metal (Rush, ELP, King Crimson, Kansas, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Gentle Giant, Camel, Fates Warning, Porcupine Tree, and more)
  • Metttttal!! (All flavors, though I enjoy the classic metal bands the most … Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, and the newer ones Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Sepultura, Kreator, etc)
  • Blues (or rather kinda like Geddy says … blues channelized through the sensibilities or rock musicians)
  • Classical (a result of a backward chain … Symphony X and Yngwie J. Malmsteen pushed me into JSB, LWB, Paganini, WAM …)
  • A plethora of bands out of the length and breadth of India (Ministry Of Blues, TAAQ, Agni, Shiva, Motherjane, Millennium, Moksha, Indus Creed, Parikrama, and about a zillion others!)

I love playing:

  • Classic Rock (again Floyd, Purple, Zeppelin, Rainbow)
  • Classic Heavy Metal (Black Sabbath, Judas Priest)
  • Prog Rock (Rush, Kansas)
  • A little finger-style classical

I use:
